Elements from "Swell (New Dawn Fades)" were photographed and sections selected in Photoshop. Unable to achieve a clean selection of the waves, that failure became the aesthetic structure for this painting.









Two car bumpers from 1956 are carved into ribbon shapes with the phrase "E Pluribus Unum" etched into them. Referencing the ribbon in the eagle's mouth on the dollar bill, the piece represents the exact amount of time since "In God We Trust" has replaced "E Pluribus Unum" as the country's motto.

An animated "Open" sign is hacked and reconfigured to spell "Nope", transforming the economic message from solicitation to exclusivity.

A series of paintings of propaganda images of Deng Xiaoping, from the early 1990s, when Deng opened China to economic reforms. Commissioned from painting factories in Dafen, Deng's image becomes commodified in a scenario of his own creation.
